Music Class Rules and Expectations
As a supportive learning community, we agree to the following class rules and expectations:
Choosing the right to pass means that the person prefers not to share personal information or feelings or to actively participate in the group at a particular moment. Being a silent observer is still a form of participation and can lead to greater learning.
At BIS, we closely monitor our students. This is to create a safe and fair learning environment. Please be advised that the students' daily actions are noticed and documented by teachers when necessary. Here are the codes that we use to document our students:
A = Incomplete homework
B = Did not bring all required supplies to class
C = Brought inappropriate materials to class
D = Was being disrespectful to others
E = Was not participating in class activities
F = Was not staying alert in class
G = Was not wearing the required uniform
H = Was not speaking English
Homework will be given when the work is not completed in the class. When given the homework, parents will be notified via email. Please make sure that parents help their child to understand the responsibilities of a student. As noted above there are consequences to every action. I'd hate to see a student being marked as the 'Code A' (refer to the section above under the title 'Discipline Code') because of a simple assignment/homework that is not completed.
It is highly recommended and encouraged that students take home the instrument and practice it every day for 5 minutes. This would allow us to perform pieces that are more fun and meaningful. Plus, the class will get to have more stage opportunities which will be memorable and exciting for the students.
Parents, hope you are ready to work as a team, as the BIS family! I want to give my students as many stage opportunities as possible! I believe that this will spice up the school experience!
