Reference Letter I
April 3rd, 2017
To whom it may concern,
I have had the great privilege of watching Sunny Ji-Yeon Chung work with our grade four and five students on our student created Opera project recently. She partnered with our Music teacher, Randy Smith and assisted tremendously in writing chord charts and digitising them online so that students could practice at home, learn their parts and even zero in on their instrumentation. This was a technology we were not using at school and she greatly advanced not only the project along but also has made an impact on how we want to incorporate and prioritize this technology for future years in our Music programs.
As a volunteer - Mrs. Chung worked with small groups of students helping them to create music that would suit a mood and the libretto of a given song throughout the narrative of our Opera. She worked tirelessly to try to have students own the process, feeling that their ideas were being honoured and listened to. Furthermore, she would make adjustments in the evenings and post musical scores on our classroom website so that students could learn the music as soon as possible. Beyond that, when things needed to be altered or edited, Mrs. Chung did not hesitate to make adjustments and tweaks so that the students and Mr. Smith as the conductor, could be successful.
Mrs. Chung shows a passion for teaching students musicianship, songwriting, and instrumentation. She shows a great deal of skill in musical technologies, and a keen ability to work with small groups. She was integral to making our grades 3-5 Opera a success this year. I would be glad to speak to her further skills at any time and can be reached at the contact information below or at ************@*******com. Thank you for this opportunity.
