When a school cancels its Christmas concert due to heavy workloads and lack of time, an overwhelmed class decides to put on their own show to praise God. Their teacher gives them a special cross that glows only when their hearts are filled with true gratitude and worship.
However, a mischievous character called The Distractor tempts the students with flashy props and competitive performances. Despite their high-energy routines, the cross stays dark because they are performing for pride and attention rather than God. When the teacher helps them realize that true worship means giving their hearts completely to Him, the students sing songs of surrender, and the cross finally begins to glow brightly.
(A teacher enters the classroom)
Teacher: Write this down. It’s really important,
Write this down,
It’s really important,
this will be on test, I assure you.
Be quiet! Pay attention to your work!
Oh yes, yes, just like that.
(School bell rings)
Teacher: Recess time~! Make sure you behave!
Students: Yes, Miss Kang (Their sitting position ever so straight and perfect)
(Teacher leaves, and right away, they lose their composure)
Students: Another Test!
Students: Ah~~~
Students: Too much work!
Students: After school, I have to go to 2 academies!
Students: You are lucky. I go to 4
(Bell Rings. The teacher comes back in. Almost instantly, students regain their composure.)
Teacher: Open your Math book to page 20.
(students open their books)
Teacher: Oh, by the way, This year’s Christmas concert is not going to happen. We just don’t have the time for silly songs and dances.
(students gasp, and their eyes widen in disbelief.
Another teacher walks up to the stage and knocks at the door)
Ms. Byun: Ms. Kang, May I have a word with you?
Teacher: Oh yes, Miss Byun, certainly. (talks to the teacher. And looks at the students)
Class, make sure you finish pages 20, and 21, and 22, and 23, and 24, that’s all~
(Teachers off the stage)
Students: I can’t believe it!
Students: No Christmas concert?!
Students: This is so sad...
Students: Where are you Christmas?!~
Where are you Christmas? Why can't I find you? Why have you gone away..
Where is the laughter? You used to bring me. Why can't I hear music play?
My world is changing, I'm rearranging. Does this mean Christmas changes too.
Where are you Christmas? Do you remember? The one you used to know. I'm not the same one. See what the time's done… Is that why you have let me go.
31. San: But they did not stay sad.
하지만, 이들은 계속 슬퍼하고 있지는 않았어요.
They decided to put on a concert of their own.
이들은 자기들만의 콘서트를 열기로 했어요.
32. Arina: Hey, let’s put on our own concert!
얘들아~ 우리만의 콘서트를 열자!
33. Woojin: Yes! And since it’s Christmas, let’s give our most sincere praise to God!
그래! 그리고 크리스마스니까, 하나님께 진심으로 찬양을 드리자!
34. Yuri: Yes! One that God will really, really love!
그래! 하나님께서 정말, 정말 기뻐하실 만한 찬양을 하자!
35. Everyone: Great idea! 좋은 생각이야!
36. Henry: Let’s go ask our Ms. Reyes how we can do this.
선생님들께 어떻게 하면 좋을지 여쭤보자.
37. Everyone: Let’s do that!
그래, 그러자!
38. Everyone: Ms. Reyes~!
39. San: Ms. Reyes, what should we do? We want to put on our own concert—one that will really, really please God!
Ms. Reyes, 어떻게 하면 좋을까요? 하나님께서 정말, 정말 기뻐하실 만한 우리만의 콘서트를 하고 싶어요!
40. Teacher: Don’t worry, Grade 1! Look here—I have a special gift for you: the Cross!
걱정하지 마, 1학년! 이것을 보렴. 너희를 위해 특별한 선물을 준비했단다. 바로 십자가란다!
(Teacher places a glowing star prop on the stage.)
41. Teacher: This special cross has a secret power. It glows brightly whenever your hearts are filled with true grateful heart and you give true worship to God!
이 특별한 십자가에는 특별한 힘이 있단다. 너희의 마음이 진정한 감사함으로 가득하고 하나님께 진정한 예배를 드릴 때마다, 십자가가 환하게 빛난단다!
(Teacher steps offstage and watches.)
42. Ezra: Awesome! Let’s start our concert and praise God!
와, 멋지다! 그럼 우리 콘서트를 시작하고 하나님을 찬양하자!
43. Arina: Wait! We need to make it really, really special!
44. Ezra: Yes! We need amazing music!
45. Jian: And awesome dancing!
46. Yuri: And maybe some really cool costumes!
47. Woojin & Ezra: I want to do the biggest dance!
48. Arina, Jian, Rosie, Yuri: And I want to sing the loudest!
(The students excitedly begin preparing. Some pretend to practice singing, some dance, some arrange imaginary instruments.)
Dashing through the snow,
in a one-horse open sleigh.
O’er the fields we go,
laughing all the way.
Bells on bobtails ring,
making spirits bright.
What fun it is to ride and sing
a sleighing song tonight.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
in a one-horse open sleigh. Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride
(At the end, everyone strikes a dramatic pose.)
(They look at the cross.)
50. San: Look! Is it lighting up?
(Everyone waits.)
51. BOYS ALL: ...Nothing? (The cross stays dark.)
52. Everyone: Hmm...
53. Rosie: Maybe we weren't loud enough!
Everyone: Let's try again!
(A cheerful, mischievous character sneaks onto the stage. The Distractor carries or wears something shiny—perhaps a giant sparkly star, glittery sunglasses, or a bag of colorful props.)
54. Distractor: Did somebody say... SHOW?!
55. Everyone: Who are you?
56. Distractor: Me? I'm the Distractor! (Big playful pose.)
57. Distractor: And I know exactly how to make your concert AMAZING!
58. Everyone: Really?
59. Distractor: Of course!
(Distractor pulls out a shiny object.)
60. Distractor: Look at this!
(The students gasp and gather around.)
61. Distractor: Wouldn't this look AMAZING on stage?
62. Everyone: Wow!
63. Distractor: And look at this! (Another shiny prop.)
64. Everyone: Whoa!
(The children become increasingly distracted.)
65. Distractor:
Forget the boring old cross. Look at all these cool things!
(The children begin playing with the objects.)
66. Henry:
Hey! I want that one!
67. Everyone: Me too~
Me too~
68. GIRLS ALL: No! I saw it first!
(The Distractor laughs.)
(Students laugh and perform increasingly exaggerated “show-off” poses.)
(At the end, everyone looks toward the cross.)
70. Ezra, Henry: Wait...
(The cross is still dark.)
71. Ezra, Henry: Why isn't it lighting up?
72. Woojin, San, Kai:
Maybe we need an even bigger performance!
73. Distractor: Exactly!
74. Yuri: I'll sing the solo!
75. Woojin: No, I'll sing the solo!
76. Ezra: I can dance better!
77. Arina: Watch MY dance!
(They begin competing.)
78. Rosie, Jian: I can sing higher!
79. Henry: I can dance faster!
80. Yuri: I can jump higher!
(The competition becomes funny and chaotic.)
(The Distractor encourages them)
91. Distractor: Bigger!
92. Everyone: Bigger!
93. Distractor: Louder!
94. Everyone: Louder!
95. Distractor: More More More~!!!
(They all pose )
(Pause.)
(The cross remains dark.)
96. Teacher: (The Teacher enters quietly.)
97. Everyone: (Everyone freezes.)
98. Teacher: What is going on?
99. San: We're trying really hard!
100. Rosie: We're singing!
101. Kai: We're dancing!
102. Yuri: We're making it exciting!
103. Teacher: I can see that.
(She looks at the cross.)
104. Teacher: But what are you thinking about while you're doing it?
(The students look at one another.)
105. Everyone: Um...
106. Teacher: Are you thinking about God?
(Silence.)
107. Woojin: I was thinking about my dance.
108. Ezra: I was thinking about whether everyone was watching me.
109. Henry:
I wanted people to clap.
110. Arina:
I wanted to be the best singer.
(The Distractor slowly tries to sneak away.)
111. Teacher: And what about you?
(Distractor freezes.)
112. Distractor: Me?
113. Teacher:
Yes. What have you made them think about?
114. Distractor:
Um........
Self love...
(Looks at audience.)
115. Distractor:
My mission is to make them think only of themselves. Let them think: Me! Me! Me!
116. Teacher:
Yes, you did.
(The Distractor shrugs.)
117. Teacher:
There's nothing wrong with beautiful music.
There's nothing wrong with dancing.
There's nothing wrong with doing your very best.
But praise worship isn't about making ourselves look amazing.
118. Jian:
Then what is worship?
119. Teacher:
Worship is giving our hearts to God.
120. San:
So... it doesn't matter if people clap?
121. Teacher:
Not the most important thing.
122. Rosie, Jian:
And it doesn't matter if I'm the best?
123. Teacher:
Not the most important thing.
124. Kai, Woojin:
Then what matters?
125. Teacher: Who are you doing it for?
(Pause.)
126. Teacher:
When we sing, we can sing for God.
When we dance, we can dance for God.
When we play an instrument, we can play for God.
And when our hearts are truly focused on Him...
(She looks at the Star.)
127. Teacher:
...then we are worshipping Him.
Lord, I will bow to You
To no other god
But You alone
Lord, I will worship You
Nothing hands have made
But You alone
I will lay down my idols
And thrones I have made
All that has taken my heart
Give thanks with a grateful heart, / give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he’s given / Jesus Christ, his Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart, / give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he’s given / Jesus Christ, his Son.
And now let the weak say ‘I am strong’, / let the poor say ‘I am rich’, / because of what the Lord has done for us;
and now let the weak say ‘I am strong’, / let the poor say ‘I am rich’, / because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks…
(The song ends softly.)
(A short silence.)
129. Yuri:
Look...
(The Cross begins to glow.)
130. Everyone:
WHOA!!!
(The Cross becomes brighter.)
131. Woojin:
It worked!
132. Henry, Ezra, Kai:
The Cross is shining!
133. Distractor:
Oh, come on!
(The children cheer)
134. Distractor:
I tried everything!
135. Teacher:
You did.
136. Distractor:
Shiny things...
137. Everyone:
Yep!
138. Distractor:
Trying to get everyone to show off.
139. Everyone:
Yep!
140. Distractor:
And none of it worked?
141. Teacher:
Not when their hearts were focused on God.
142. Distractor:
Hm, my strategy won't work with these kids. BIS students have learned to humble themselves before God. I am going to find other people who are full of pride and self-righteousness.
143. Teacher:
All right, Grade 1.
Are you ready for your special concert? A true worship?
144. Everyone:
YES!
145. Teacher:
Then you need to remember—
146. Ezra, Henry, Kai:
It's not about being the best!
147. Woojin, San:
It's not about getting applause!
148. Yuri, Arina:
It's not about everyone looking at us!
149. Rosie, Jian:
It's about giving our hearts to God!
150. Teacher:
Exactly.
151. Ezra:
And that day, the children discovered something very important.
152. San:
A beautiful performance can make people clap.
A great song can make people smile.
But true worship comes from the heart.
(Students look toward the glowing Cross.)
153. Ezra:
And when their hearts were truly turned toward God...
...the Cross finally began to shine.
155. Everyone:
Merry Christmas!
