Hello everyone!
My name is Sunny Ji-Yeon Chung, and I am thrilled to be your elementary music teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This marks my eighth wonderful year at BIS, and I feel incredibly fortunate to share the joy of music with our bright, kind, and talented students.
Music, for me, is more than notes and rhythms—it's a way for students to discover themselves, express their feelings, and celebrate their growth. I am deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring space where students can explore the magic of music, take on challenges, and feel proud of their accomplishments.
I believe that true learning happens not just through instruction, but through experience, effort, and shared joy. Whether it's preparing for a concert, practicing together as a group, or performing in front of family, I work to help each student shine, feel confident, and leave with memories they can carry with them for years to come. I love seeing students beam with pride, celebrate their progress, and recognize their own potential. These moments are my greatest motivation.
I hold both a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, and I am a certified teacher in Ontario and British Columbia. Before joining BIS, I had the privilege of serving as a primary music teacher in B.C., as well as volunteering in my sons’ schools, helping to compose and produce musical performances and school concerts—experiences that continue to inspire my teaching today.
My goal as your music educator is to guide students in developing their skills, express themselves, and experiencing the joy of growth. I aim to help them persevere, collaborate, and celebrate their achievements, both big and small, while fostering a love for music that will last a lifetime.
I look forward to a year filled with creativity, dedication, and unforgettable musical moments together! Let’s make this musical adventure joyful, meaningful, and inspiring. 🎶🎉
