Pretend you are owls in the forest.
Sing “hoo hoo” on a high pitch.
Slide the sound from low to high like an owl calling.
Keep the sound light and round, not shouty.
Note: The “oo” vowel naturally encourages head voice.
Have students imitate a fire truck siren.
Sing “woo” and glide from low → high → low.
Use a smooth sliding sound (glissando).

Note: This helps kids connect chest voice to head voice easily.
Tell them to be friendly ghosts.
Use a soft floating “ooo” sound
Start high and float downward.
Encourage:
No yelling
Airy and spooky
Use “oo oo ah ah”
Jump between high and medium pitches.
Note: This activates their upper register without pressure.
Make a motorboat sound:
brrrrrrrrrrrr
Then slide up and down.
This:
relaxes the voice
prevents pushing
naturally leads to head voice
Start crouched down.
Count:
3… 2… 1…
Then sing: Woooooo!
Note: As the rocket slides up high, our voice automatically go into head voice when the pitch rises dramatically.
